Kung Fu for Self Defense
When you practice Kung Fu with us here in Calgary you will get a workout along with learning how to protect yourself against the many situations you might encounter during your life. Instead of walking around at night with that little hint of fear in the back of your mind... why not gain some confidence in yourself though self defense? The techniques we teach you are not for attacking - just defending. Our goal here is not doing damage; basically we try to do the least amount of damage possible while also eliminating the danger. That’s the ideal way and that's what our classes teach.
The first thing we teach you is awareness of your surroundings and the ability to read a situation. Furthermore you will learn how to deescalate a situation if possible, how to position yourself in various environments so you’re less likely to be a victim, how you should speak to aggressors, what to do when someone brandishes a weapon, and much more.
Of course, in self defence, we also teach you how to deal with the actual physical act of someone's punch, kick, chase, tackle, swing, weapon, etc... although all of that is the last part of this specific training. More important than learning how to protect yourself from any physical violence is first learning how to do everything you can to avoid those situations in the first place.
